Letter to Dr. Marybai Kukde
Letter dated December 9, 1920 addressed to Dr. Marybai Kukde from a classmate at the Women’s Medical College of Pennsylvania. Dr. Kukde, a native of Bangalore, was one of the first women from India to receive her degree in medicine in the United States.

The caption indicates that Shahane's first name is 'Pamela', though elsewhere she is identified as 'Premala'. The caption also incorrectly states that Shahane was the first "Hindu Woman" at the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania.
