A Profile Story of Shamsun Nehar in Mode Detroit
Shamsun Nehar began her business Cakes by Lucky in 2014 after baking for her friends and family. She learned cake decorating as a creative outlet from her day job as a senior software engineer for the engineering company Continental Automotive. Now she's baked and decorated over 500 cakes for special occasions for metro Detroit's Bangladeshi, Indian, Pakistani and multicultural communities.

Humayra Bobby is the owner Boubí Skin. This was the first print feature for Boubí Skin in a community newspaper in Hamtramck, MI. Humayra picked it up from Detroit Donut in Hamtramck where her father first worked. She says it was a full circle moment for her.

Hobby and Holly were among businesses who provided services at limited capacity throughout the pandemic.
