Bhangra team formed by students at Cleveland State University
A photograph taken during the summer of 1976 of a bhangra team formed by students at Cleveland State University and local high school students to perform during American bicentennial celebrations in the tour of cities in the Midwest. The team performed that summer in Kentucky, Ohio and perhaps other nearby states.
Uday Shan-kar and his Hindu Ballet
Program for Uday Shankar and his Hindu Ballet held at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco on February 18 and 20, 1939. The program contains a description of the entire performance. Music direction is credited to Vishnudass Shirali, and the other dancers credited in the performance are Simkie, Zohra, Uzra, Madhavan, Robindra, Brijo, Behari, Sisir Sovan, and Nagen Dey.
Ruth St. Denis: "First Lady of the Dance"
Flyer for a performance by Ruth St. Denis, the “First Lady of American Dance,” at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco. St. Denis regularly performed her interpretations of Indian forms dance in the 1910s onwards to American audiences.

Set of postcards titled "Folk Dances of India," sent from Somnath Dar, the Consulate General of India in San Francisco, to Rani Bagai. The set has a note pasted from Dhar to Bagai that reads, "It was sweet of you to send me that nice letter which I have kept. Your Mom's letter was read by Asha also. You may like to keep this folder."
