FAQS
Where can I find the most recent schedule for the Institute?

The schedule for the Institute can be found here.

Where will the Institute take place?

The Institute will be based at SAADA’s office, located at 1650 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103.

Can you share more about the field trips?

We will have three off-site field trips during the Institute, on three different days (see schedule here). Two of those days we will meet at the field trip location, then return to SAADA’s office for the remainder of the day. The third field trip, to Jackson Heights in New York, we will be offsite all day.

How do I get to the field trip sites? Do I have to pay for my own transportation to get to the locations? How do I know where to show up?

Two of the locations are near downtown Philadelphia, and are publicly accessible by Philadelphia’s public transportation system (SEPTA). The trip to New York will be taken via Amtrak, located at 30th Street, which is also publicly accessible by SEPTA. We will provide you with a week long SEPTA pass for travel, and will purchase Amtrak tickets and any local fare in New York.

Additionally, we will provide you with maps with SAADA’s office as a starting point on how to get to the various destinations. If you have any questions, please contact us at institute@saada.org.

What meals are covered during the Institute?

Participants will be responsible for their own meals throughout the Institute. SAADA will provide snacks and bottled water. SAADA will cover lunch on Thursday, June 27, during the trip to Jackson Heights.

Will I be reimbursed for any travel, food, or other expenses I incur during the Institute?

Per NEH policy, the $1,300 stipend you will receive after attending the Institute and completing any required deliverables is intended to offset or help with the costs of attending the Institute.

Am I required to stay at the accommodations SAADA has reserved?

Do I have to commit to the entire duration of the institute?
