DESCRIPTION
Associated Press article entitled “Moslems Accept the British Plan, but Say Pakistan Still Goal.” The article reports that the Muslim League’s Council in New Delhi led by Muhammad Ali Jinnah accepted the British plan for an independent India, but would not back down on the establishment of an independent Pakistan as well. The League claimed to be willing to cooperate with the constitution, but also to retain the right to call for secession. Both the British and the All-India Congress Party under Mohandas Gandhi rejected the proposal for an independent Pakistan.
