DESCRIPTION
Chitra Singh is a singer/songwriter and a nursing aide. She is the co-founder of the Rajkumari Cultural Center, an Indo-Caribbean arts and culture organization in Queens.

Text of "Per ajie," a poem by Rajkumari Singh, Pritha and Chitra's mother, in her self-published collection Days of the Sahib.

Pioneering Indo-Caribbean poet Rajkumari Singh wrote the poem "Per Ajie" in tribute to the first immigrant woman in the Singh family to arrive in the Caribbean from India. These pages come from the rare, self-published edition of the poet's 1971 collection Days of the Sahib. The Singh family brought the text with them from Guyana.
