Interview with Ghalib Shiraz Dhalla

DESCRIPTION
Like many other queer communities, HIV/AIDS support and activism was a focus of the South Asian community. Ghalib Shiraz Dhalla of Satrang partnered with Zulfikar Surani of Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team (APAIT) to lead outreach on safe sex and HIV prevention and education programs in the community. In the audio recording, Dhalla recounts bringing safe sex kits to local stores focusing on South Asian clientele and the fear and impact involved in such outreach. This recording was displayed with a selection of materials from South Asian AIDS Action (SAAA) in New York, which was active in the 1990s.
