DESCRIPTION
Oral history interview with Bindu Methikalam, conducted by Philadelphia Fellow Alyssa Siji.

Dr. Bindu Methikalam was born in New York, New York. Her mother immigrated to the U.S. in the mid 1970s due to the nurse shortage and brought her husband and eldest daughter with her. Dr. Methikalam was raised in the Bronx within the tight-knit community composed of other families who had also immigrated at the same time. She attended Pace University for undergrad and received her master’s at Teachers College, Columbia University. She then moved to Central Pennsylvania in 2004 for her doctorate in Psychology and then to Philadelphia in 2008 for her fellowship. As a licensed psychologist, she works with adults of all ages and is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Asian American Psychological Association.
