Oral History Interview with Merlyn Manattu
DESCRIPTION
Oral history interview with Merlyn Manattu, conducted by Philadelphia Fellow Alyssa Siji.
Dr. Merlyn Manattu was born in New York City and was raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Inspired by her mother’s nurturing qualities as a nurse, she decided to pursue a career in medicine paying no attention to those who tried to discourage her from this challenging field. Nearing the end of her high school career, she moved to Chicago for her undergraduate and graduate studies in order to become a physician. She then moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to complete her residency and fellowship, and currently works at PentaHealth as an Attending Geriatric Physician. As a physician, wife, and new mother, Dr. Manattu works towards making her community one that does not deprive itself of opportunities due to fear.
