Fighting Islamophobia & Hate on Campus

DESCRIPTION
This is a strategy glossary that provides definitions of terms related to hate and discrimination, such as ableism, backlash, bully, harass, hate crime, hate violence, Islamophobia, oppression, post-9/11 backlash, racial profiling, racism, slur, white supremacy, and xenophobia. It also includes a list of 10 ways to demand justice and fight hate on campus. These include refusing to let hate go unchallenged, pulling together as a community, speaking out against bigotry, supporting survivors and victims, identifying the act of hate to better understand how to combat it, connecting incidents to campus institutional structures and their reliance on white supremacy and racism, educating the community about the crisis and its histories, maintaining momentum beyond the immediate crisis, understanding the media and preparing to work with them, and passing the torch by leaving a record of activism.
