Your work will further solidify SAADA as a national leader in community-driven storytelling and ensure that South Asian American stories are preserved and shared. Over the past sixteen years, SAADA has grown from a modest digital repository to a powerhouse of South Asian American stories. Our archive, storytelling projects, artistic partnerships, walking tours, lesson plans, films, and books help ensure that South Asian Americans are recognized as an essential part of the American story. About the Role
As our Web (Drupal) Developer, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining SAADA’s digital presence through our Drupal website. SAADA’s website is currently built in Drupal 7 and runs on the Pantheon hosting platform. The Web (Drupal) Developer will be responsible for the following:
  • Migrating the SAADA website from Drupal 7 to Drupal 11.
  • Ensuring website security by regularly updating software, plugins, and themes, as well as implementing security protocols and monitoring for vulnerabilities.
  • Assessing website performance and identifying areas for improvement, implementing solutions to optimize speed, reliability, and user experience.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues related to website functionality, server configuration, and user access, working closely with external vendors as needed.
  • Working collaboratively with SAADA staff to support website-related projects and initiatives.
  • Performing regular backups of website data and implementing disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime and data loss.
  • Monitoring website analytics and generating reports to track key metrics such as traffic and engagement, providing insight and recommendations for improvement.
  • Staying informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to web development and business processes.

Your Background & Skill Set
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience as a web developer/administrator or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of web technologies, protocols, and standards.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web development languages and frameworks.
  • Experience with Drupal Platform and web hosting environments, as well as familiarity with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Knowledge of website security best practices, including SSL/TLS8 encryption, firewalls, and malware detection/prevention.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and experience in interpreting and analyzing website performance data.

Pay
This position is fully remote with flexible hours but requires regular availability for meetings during SAADA’s workday (Monday - Friday, 9:30am to 5:30pm ET). The pay range for this position is $36.06-$40.87 / hour. This is a contract position.
