The United States of India (February 1924)

DESCRIPTION
The February 1924 issue of the United States of India (Vol. 1, No. 7) published from the headquarters of the "Pacific Coast Hindustani Association" at No. 5 Wood Street, San Francisco featured an article titled "How History Suggests the Remedy for Injustice," which concludes "In the light of history who will blame the Hindoos if they, tomorrow, forced by the injustice done to them by the English Government, produce theor own Washington to avenge the wrongs done to them?" The issue also contains a long obituary by Bhupendra Nath Datta on Surendranath Kar, a member of the Gadar Party who also edited "Independent Hindusthan" and worked for the Friends of Freedom for Indian Society. Kar's revolutionary activities took him to Berlin, where he ultimately died; his funeral, Datta writes, was held in "Hindustan House" in Berlin.
