"ISSO Holds Raas-Garba in LA"; "1981 - A Milestone Year for the Indian Community in the U.S."

DESCRIPTION
Two newspaper clippings from the scrapbook of Dr. Amarjit Marwah, each taken from separate issues of India-West.

The first, entitled "ISSO Holds Raas-Garba in LA" and dated January 20, 1984, describes a raas-garba dance held by the International Swaminarayan Satsang Organization in Los Angeles. Dr. Marwah is mentioned as the "chief guest."

The second, an article by Ramesh Murarka entitled "1981 - A Milestone Year for the Indian Community in the U.S." and dated January 8, 1982, discusses successes for the Indian American community in 1981 (including census results, scientific and medical achievements, political and civic struggles, and government appointments. Dr. Marwah is mentioned (and highlighted) in this list due to his appointment to the Cultural Heritage Commission of Los Angeles.
