DESCRIPTION
Photograph taken for J.C. Kaimal's student visa to come to the United States as a graduate student at the University of Washington. It had to be renewed annually, in January. On a visit in 1960 with wife Lorraine and three year old daughter Padma, the agent at the office saw him with his wife and daughter and asked Chandran if he would like to become a citizen. He said yes. The process began, and he became a citizen in October of 1963, one month before Kennedy was assassinated.
