Thesis on the Jaffna Exodus During the Sri Lankan Civil War

DESCRIPTION
Mahendran Thiruvarangan's undergraduate thesis, titled "The Politics of Narrating the Exodus of 1995," was his first formal exploration on the theories and critiques of nationalism, drawing on his own personal experience enduring the Jaffna Exodus during the Sri Lankan Civil War. This thesis was a major step in Mahendran Thiruvarangan's political maturation and was a topic of discussion during his interview for the Archival Creators Fellowship project on Ilankai Tamil Feminism, for which he also serves as an advisor. The supervisor for the thesis was Dr. Sumathy Sivamohan, who is notably the sister of Nirmala Rajasingam, another interviewee for this oral history project, as well as Rajani Thiranagama, who is featured in numerous project interviews and artifacts.
