The End Racial Profiling Act: A Factsheet for the South Asian Community
DESCRIPTION
This is a factsheet published in January 2012 that provides information about the End Racial Profiling Act of 2010 (ERPA) (S. 1670; H.R. 3618), which was introduced by Congressman John Conyers of Michigan and Senator Ben Cardin. The factsheet answers basic questions about the legislation, how racial and religious profiling affects South Asians in the U.S., and how community members can take action to support this bill. The factsheet explains what profiling is, why it is wrong, and how it has affected the South Asian community. It also outlines how ERPA would protect the rights of South Asians and others affected by profiling, including prohibiting profiling based on race, religion, ethnicity, or national origin by federal, state, and local law enforcement.
