DESCRIPTION
This is a publication from South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT) released in October 2010. The report analyzes instances of xenophobic and racist rhetoric in American political discourse since September 11, 2001. The report is divided into three sections: (1) documented examples of xenophobic rhetoric aimed generally at South Asian, Muslim, Sikh, or Arab American communities as a whole; (2) documented examples of such rhetoric aimed specifically at South Asian candidates running for elected office; and (3) tips for community members on how to respond to such rhetoric. The report concludes by calling for key stakeholders to promote dialogue free of racial and religious stereotypes.
