September 21, 1962.

My dear Concorde & Kanwaljit,

It is with deep sorrow that I have learnt about the passing away of Dr. Bhagwan Singh Gyanee. I had the privilege of knowing him for some time and invited him for an address to my staff and students at Jullundur when I was Principal of the D.A.V. College. It was indeed a pleasure to listen to his ennobling thoughts. He suffered so much for his country and did so much for her uplift. His death creates a gap which will not be easy to fill. But his life will be a standing inspiration for so many of us.

I regret I am not in a position to join the Bhog ceremony on the 23rd. I offer my heart-felt condolences to the family and pray to God that He may grant peace to the soul of the departed.

Your loss is so great. But it will give you consolation to know that this is not your loss alone, but the loss of the nation and there are thousands of your countrymen who share this sorrow with you.

Yours in distress,
[Signature]
