COPY Letter to Sr. Jagjit Singh Aug. 19, 1956 c/o Col Gurbax Singh Tarn Taran, Punjab, India Dear Sardar SinghJi: JAI HIND!. Your Kind letter of July 15th reached me sometime ago. I have been in quite a turmoil myself besides lectures, classes, dictation, etc I had two minor operations one in July the other in August. To add to that injuries I received from the Canadian Police at the time of my deportation Nov. 19, 1913 are causing distress, pain and handicap. As long as I was younger, living on the hereditary endowment of my race I was able to face life's problems with greater zest and defiance. But now, as age catches up and the vigor of youth receeds with the dawn of maturer wisdom, I am ready to slow down awhile. So, let us resume our chat. First permit me to commend your scholarly tenacity for research & hunger for facts. The "Gadar Party Laher" is well written, copiously documented & yet it is left open for further research work, assimilation of facts, and modification in the light of expanded knowledge. The Gardar Party was truly an International Movement. Our representatives & Centres of information, propaganda, etc., were in the Capitols of practically every Nation besides the Pacific Coast, Vancouver, Victoria, other Canadian cities. Our centres were well established in Panama, Mexico City, Buenos Ayres, Argentina, Brazil... There were 300 of our countrymen residing in Manilla, Tokio, Yokohama, and other cities of Japan, Shanghai, Hong kong, China, Singapore, Bangkok, Thialand, Rangoon, Burma, Indo-China, Jave, Sumatra, Kabul, Teheran, Persia, Ankara, Turkey, Moscow, Russia, Berlin, Germany, Paris, France am a free man and creative thinker. I do not know which and have no ides who wrote it or what it was about. Could you keep a sharp look-out for anything published in Punajb relative to the Gadar Party or any of its members, including myself, and send me a copy? Many thanks. Sometime ago a complete copy of my poems published in the “Hindustand Gadar” From 1913 to 1928 were delivered to my daughter, Bebe Satwant Kaur and her husband Sardar GIani Singh “Ragi” 1936 Chauk Krori, Amritsar. Would it ever be possible for you to drop in on them when in Amritsar and take a look at the collection and tell me, if in your estimation they are worth publishing? The thoughts expressed in them may not fit NOW into the modern picture, but they still have historic value and faithfully depict the conditions INDIA faced not so long ago.
